July 13, 2016

The project was awarded to Payne & Dolan, Inc., who will be the general contractor for the project.  The Contractor tentatively plans to begin work on the project starting the week of July 25, 2016.  The initial stages of this work will consist of replacing various sections of curb within the project limits.  This work will last approximately 1 to 1 ½ weeks depending on weather conditions.  The pavement will remain intact for the duration of this work, however there will be equipment staged in the areas of curb replacement which may impede traffic.  Additionally, some sections of curb will be replaced within driveways.  This will limit driveway access for up to 3 days while the concrete is curing (i.e. hardening).  We will work directly with the affected property owner(s) in terms of notifications and alternate accesses for this work.

Pavement milling operations (removal of the existing asphalt) are currently scheduled for the week of August 8, 2016.  Once the pavement is removed, access to your driveways will be maintained on the gravel base.  Milling operations will be followed by undercuts (digging out bad or soft stone base areas and replacing them with appropriate backfill to support the new pavement) and grading to re-establish the crown (pitch) on the roadway.  These operations will take 1 to 1 ½ weeks depending on weather conditions and the amount of undercutting that is required to be completed.

The new asphalt will be placed in 2 layers.  The binder (lower) asphalt course is currently scheduled to begin the week of August 15, 2016.  The surface (finish) asphalt course will follow immediately upon completion of the binder course.  During this time, access to your driveways may be limited for short periods (perhaps 30 minutes to 1 hour) while the asphalt is placed, rolled and cooled.  The time to cool the asphalt is weather dependent so the time your access is limited can vary.  The contractor and our resident project representative will do their best to provide access to your property as soon as possible.

We will have our resident project representative on site full time during this project and will post their contact information as soon as it becomes known.

As with any construction project, this schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or subsurface conditions that are discovered in the construction process.  We appreciate your patience during this construction project.  If you should have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please feel free to contact Maggie Wagner or Marianne Hiltunen at 262-691-0804.
