Pewaukee Woods Commerce Center

August 3, 2017

If you have any invisible fencing or an irrigation system (or any other impediments underground) located within the City’s right of way (typically from the curb towards your home approximately 16’), you must mark the locations of the these facilities.
If you do not mark the location and it is damaged by the Contractor, it will be your responsibility to repair the damage.  If it is marked and damaged by the Contractor, the Contractor will be responsible for the repair.

August 3, 2017

We have determined the contractor will be starting construction the week of August 11, 2017.  The beginning stages of this work will seem intermittent as minor utility work is being completed and curb sections are being replaced.  This work will last approximately 1 to 2 weeks depending on weather conditions.  The road pavement will remain intact for the duration of this work, but there will be equipment and barricades/barrels in the areas of curb replacement and utility work which will impede traffic.  Some driveway access may be limited for up to 3 days while the concrete is curing.  If this is the case, we will work directly with the property owner with notification and alternate accesses.

The intersection of Paul Road and Woodgate Road will be raised as part of the project.  In this area, the roadway will be pulverized (pavement crushed into stone).  The pulverizing is currently scheduled to begin around August 16, 2017.  The remaining roadways will have a full depth mill (all existing asphalt removed).  The pavement milling is currently scheduled the week of September 1, 2017.  Once the pavement is removed, access will be maintained to your driveways on the gravel base.  Milling operations will be followed by undercuts (digging out bad, soft stone base areas and replacing them with appropriate backfill to support the new pavement).  This is then followed by grading operations to re-establish the crown (pitch) on the roadway.  These operations will take 1 to 2 weeks depending on weather conditions and the amount of undercuts.

The new asphalt will be placed in 2 layers.  The binder (lower) asphalt course is currently scheduled to begin the week of September 21, 2017.  The surface (finish) asphalt course will follow immediately upon completion of the binder course for all areas.  During this time, access to your driveways may be limited for short periods (perhaps 30 minutes to 1 hour) while the asphalt is placed and cooled.  The time to cool the asphalt is weather dependent so your access limit time may vary.  The contractor and our inspector will do their best to get access to your properties as soon as possible.

We will have full time inspection on this project.  The onsite inspector will be Rich Eberhardt, Ruekert Mielke.  He may be reached at 414-659-6145 for construction related questions.  You may also contact the City at 262-691-0804 with any questions or concerns.

March 21, 2017

The Pewaukee Woods Commerce Center road project will be going to the bidding process again soon.  Watch for further notices to be mailed to each property with the public hearing date for the project.  Please note that letters are sent to the owners listed on the tax listing from Waukesha County.  If you have any questions regarding the road project, please contact Maggie Wagner at 262-691-0804.

A separate correspondence is being sent to properties that were constructed under old fire protection standards and do not appear to have a water service that would be adequate for fire protection.  We have seen an increase in properties expanding, new businesses moving into existing buildings, or redevelopment of parcels that require additional fire protection for the building or the use.  Once the roadway is repaved, there is a City ordinance that prohibits any cuts or excavations within the newly paved surface for a minimum of 3 years.  If you have plans in the next 3 years to expand or sell, we highly recommend you look to install a 6 inch fire protection service prior to the resurfacing of the road project.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fire protection service, please contact Jane Mueller, Utility Superintendent, at 262-691-0804.
