Public Works

The Public Works Department consists of the following divisions:
  • Engineering
  • Highway
The Engineering Division administers all engineering and various public works activities of the City in accordance with the directives of the Common Council. The division is also responsible for development review, construction and field services including administering Developer’s Agreements, storm water management, street construction/reconstruction, planning design for public works projects, multi-use trail development, and permits for working within the right of way.

The Highway Division is responsible for routine maintenance and repair of all public pavements and surface infrastructure within the street right of way, with the exception of that maintained by the County or State. In addition, the division is responsible for snow and ice control, maintenance of traffic signs and signals, street lighting, storm drainage, street sweeping, brush and trees maintenance within the public right of way, equipment maintenance, and operation of the Recycling Center.
