[ARCHIVED] Recycle Landscape Plastics

WAUKESHA COUNTY URGE RESIDENTS TO
KEEP LANDSCAPE PLASTICS OUT OF CURBSIDE RECYCLING CONTAINERS

Recycleused plastic plant pots, trays and containers free of charge at Johnson’s
Nursery, Inc.

(WAUKESHA, WI) – With garden and landscape season at its peak, WaukeshaCounty reminds residents to not place used plastic growing pots, plant trays,
and plant containers into their curbside recycling containers. Residents andbusinesses are invited to drop these off free of charge at Johnson's Nursery,
Inc., W180 N6275 Marcy Road, Menomonee Falls for collection.

“The curbside recycling program is unable to accept plasticplant containers due to high levels of contamination,” said Analiese Smith,
Waukesha County Recycling and Solid Waste Supervisor. “Properly recycling thesematerials at local businesses keeps plastics out of landfills and saves more
than 60% of the energy it takes to make brand new products.”

This program is a cooperative effort between Johnson'sNursery, Inc. and the Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use to
reduce impurities out of the City of Milwaukee/Waukesha County MaterialsRecovery Facility (MRF).

Plastic plant containers must be free of plant debris, tags,
and metals and must be sorted by plastic type. New pots will be made from therecycled donated materials. Residents may drop off containers year-round during
business hours. Those with bulk quantities, such as businesses, are required topre-sort, palletize, and call ahead to schedule a drop-off. Visit the retail
office upon arrival for direction to the drop off area.
