[ARCHIVED] Workforce Development COVID-19 update

JOB CENTERS IN WAUKESHA, OZAUKEE, AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES RESPOND TO COVID-19

(WAUKESHA, WI) – The three Workforce Development Center locations in Mequon, Pewaukee, and West Bend are temporarily modifying service delivery approaches to protect customers and staff in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. These efforts align with recent changes at the technical college host sites of Milwaukee Area Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College, and Waukesha County Technical College, as well as state and federal guidance.

Effective March 16, 2020, the Workforce Development Centers are postponing workshops, events, large group activities, and some face-to-face activities consistent with recent CDC guidance as well as new COVID-19 protocols issued at each technical college campus. The Workforce Development Center remains open to the public and will continue to offer limited one-on-one appointments, access to computers in the resource room, and enrollment in programs and services. When feasible, most services and appointments will be offered virtually or via phone. The goal is to support social distancing efforts and reduce the exposure to protect customers. Additionally, hourly cleaning protocols are in place for all public areas including lobbies, reception areas, and computers.

Workforce Development Center partner agencies and staff will continue to address the critical needs of businesses and job seekers during the COVID-19 outbreak. For those affected by COVID-19-related business closures or layoffs, visit https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/covid19 for information on unemployment insurance and other public resources.

Updates on the Workforce Development Center’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic including current hours of operation and services available may be found on their website www.wfdc.org and on their social media accounts.
