Fall Hydrant Flushing – October 10 to November 11
Fall hydrant flushing will take place on weekdays from October 10 to November 11 between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The city flushes all hydrants twice a year, in spring and fall. This is done to check for proper operation of the hydrants and for proper pressure and flow. The flushing removes sediment from the pipes in order to maintain water clarity and water quality in the distribution system. Please note, water discoloration may occur during flushing. This is normal. Your water is safe to drink during and after flushing. If discoloration occurs, run your cold water tap for a few minutes until the water clears. To prevent staining, avoid doing laundry during scheduled flushing times.
