New candlelight

(WAUKESHA, WI) – The Friends of Retzer Nature
Center’s Wild Winter Night returns on Saturday, February 16 at Retzer Nature Center from 6 to 9 p.m. to explore the
wonders of the natural world at night. Retzer Nature Center is located at
S14W28167 Madison Street, Waukesha.
“This is a perfect event for residents to celebrate winter
in Wisconsin,” said Dale Shaver, Park System Director. “Cure your cabin fever
with candlelight hikes, educational activities, fun campfire songs, and don’t
forget to top it off with some hot cocoa.”
New this year, attendees will
enjoy guided nature hikes on candle-lit trails for an in-depth look at the
winter world of Retzer. In addition, with the generous support of the Friends
of Retzer Nature Center, attendees can borrow
snowshoes (weather and snow cover permitting), delight in hot cocoa, s’mores
and songs by the campfire and enjoy family friendly nature-themed
activities. Also, the
Horwitz-DeRemer Planetarium will be offering an indoor planetarium program,
“The Solar System.” Planetarium shows run every half hour from 6 to 8:30
p.m.
The event is
held regardless of weather. Attendees should dress accordingly.
Admission is $3 per person or $10 per family (two and younger are free). Friends of Retzer Nature Center members receive free admission. For more information about becoming a Friends member, visit: www.friendsofretzer.org.
