(Waukesha, WI) – Waukesha County Parks is seeking volunteers for the second annual “Mission Possible Volunteer Workday” event. Volunteers will become temporary ‘special agents’ on a mission to hand-pull invasive garlic mustard plants from natural areas within various parks on Saturday, April 23 between 9 a.m. and noon.

“Garlic mustard is a very aggressive and invasive plant that is found throughout the park system,” said Julia Robson, Waukesha County Conservation Biologist. “Removal of garlic mustard helps make room for native plants and wildflowers that are crucial to the ecosystems and wildlife in our parks.”

Interested participants can register at the location of their choice and can work any time during the event. Locations include Menomonee Park, Minooka Park, Mukwonago Park, Muskego Park, and Retzer Nature Center. Attendees will meet at the “rendezvous point” for a map and supplies before heading to an area in need. All other information and a video tutorial will be provided by email before the mission.

Registration is free and includes park admission for the day. Online registration for each volunteer is required by Wednesday, April 20. For more information or to register for your mission as a ‘special agent’ visit www.waukeshacounty.gov/missionpossible.
