[ARCHIVED] Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites

WAUKESHA COUNTY ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO DISPOSE OF HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE PROPERLY THIS SPRING

 

(Waukesha, WI) – Spring cleaning season has arrived, and Waukesha County Parks & Land Use reminds residents to visit Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection sites to safely dispose of chemicals and dangerous materials. Waukesha County has three free sites and four one-time collection events for residents. 

“Keeping hazardous materials and chemicals out of landfills is important,” said Abbie Liedtke, Recycling & Solid Waste Supervisor for Waukesha County. “We have convenient locations throughout the County to serve all residents, so it’s easier than ever to lessen the potential risks associated with this type of waste.”

Items in their original containers and in reusable condition can be donated to the “Product Exchange” program at the ongoing collection sites. Waukesha County residents can pick up product exchange items at no charge. More information: www.WaukeshaCounty.gov/HazardousWaste

  • Menomonee Falls: Veolia Environmental Services, W124N9451 Boundary Rd.
  • Muskego: North of Emerald Park Landfill, W124 S10391 S. 124 St.
  • Waukesha: NEW LOCATION 1500 N University Dr. (near the water tower)

 

All Waukesha County residents are welcome at one-time collection events with proof of residency:

  • Mukwonago May 20: Village Public Works Garage, 630 Hwy NN
  • Brookfield June 3: City Public Works Yard, 19700 Riverview Dr.
  • Delafield June 17: City Dept. of Public Works, 111 Main St.
  • Oconomowoc September 9: City Public Works Garage, 630 S. Worthington St.

 

Old, unusable chemicals, pesticides, wood preservatives, solvents, oil-based paints, and mercury-containing products are accepted. Not accepted are latex paint, non-hazardous cleaning materials, motor oil, and oil filters.
