Notice to All City of Pewaukee Water Utility Customers
The City of Pewaukee Water Utility filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase water rates. The increase is necessary due to a 16.34% increase in gross plant investment and a 22.83% increase in operating expenses since the last water rate case was completed in 2019.
The PSCW has authorized a two-step rate increase. Step I rate will become effective for the first quarter 2024 billing cycle. Step 1 rates would increase revenues $429,422. Step II will be implemented upon the completion of the water project required to remediate the radium compliance order for Well #5. Step II will generate an additional $361,286 which will allow for additional maintenance costs and debt payments.
An example of a water bill for an average residential home with a 5/8” or 3/4” meter that uses 15,000 gallons of water per quarter will see an increase from $79.50 to $101.25, not including the Public Fire Protection charge with the Step I rate.
The new rates become effective on December 21, 2023 (1st Quarter 2024), which includes the billing for January, February, and March 2024.
